Healing in Community Summit from Michelle C. Johnson

Access the summit videos

Author, healer, social justice champion, and anti-racism facilitator Michelle C. Johnson curated these 20+ conversational interviews to help us all heal.

These free videos with change-makers, activists, yoga teachers, and spiritual leaders explore a conversation about grief, its definition, the lessons we’ve learned, collective liberation, rituals and practices, and more.

Use this as a resource for support, inspiration, and thoughtful engagement with the human experience of grief and liberation, helping us to move and be moved rather than push through.

When we’re experiencing anxiety and trauma response, we can use physical tools to help ground and calm the mind. This is a “simple” practice you can do absolutely anywhere. It helps move from mind into body, from future-worrying or past-remembering into present-feeling and being.

Simply look at your current surroundings and name:

5 things that you can see
4 things that you can hear
3 things that you can feel
2 things that you can smell
1 thing that you can taste

Let these observations ground your attention into the present moment. This is great for kiddos, too!

Guided Breath Meditation by Tara Brach

Listen to the meditation

Teacher, author, and clinical psychologist Tara Brach, PhD, leads a simple, relaxing meditation focusing on breath as refuge. She’ll guide you through a short body relaxation, then use the breath to focus your attention and draw you “home” to yourself. Tara ends the meditation with a lovingkindness practice.
