All Hands Community Meeting - April 28 - Focused on The Human Race

4-6:15 pm @ Essential Space, 1509 Seabright Ave, Santa Cruz

Hey y'all! Our next All Hands Meeting will be on Sunday, April 28th. We will be highlighting a few programs we. are trying to raise money and awareness for:

Yoga for the little warriors: Seed to Tree

Yoga for the Incarcerated: Our Longest-term Jail programs

Yoga For Transition Age Youth: Sequoia School

Yoga for Adults in Recovery: Janus Residential, Outpatient and Perinatal

We will of course be highlighting our other programs as well but this will be a great way to hear about how these programs specifically are shifting the status quo from inequity to equity. From lack of resources to an abundance of tools that can be used for healing.

Come meet other like-minded individuals in your community, learn about how you can be support YFAM in this year's human race, and how you can make a difference in your community, today! This event is always free. Snacks and Wisdom Provided. (Stay a little longer to help us make signs for race day!)

We call them "All Hands" as in "all hands on deck!" We know it takes an entire community to create transformational change. Join us for this month's meeting as we dive into building community through the practice of yoga and a deeper understanding of trauma informed care. This is an opportunity to hear more about what we've been doing as an organization, generate some excitement for upcoming events, gain a deeper understanding of trauma informed care principles and find out ways to volunteer. Snacks and wisdom provided! This event is FREE- as in equitable, as in everyone has a seat at the table. We hope you'll join us and invite your friends along too.

On Thanksgiving Day, join us for a special gratitude flow with our founder and executive director, Shandara Gill and special guest teacher Rae Rae Stein at Breath and Oneness Yoga Studio. Michael Downey will be holding it down on the gratitude train with beautiful music accompaniment and a sing along kirtan to wrap up our session.

In a time where it might be difficult to consciously consider what we’re grateful for, let’s gather as a community to tap into our universal heart of compassion. We can source our gratitude to heal ourselves within our community; and therefore, be a source of healing for others.

Pay It Forward: Fundraiser for Gravity Water - February 2018

Yoga Fest - October 2017

Yoga Fest was YFAM’s first public event and we are so glad to have been able to share with you.

Hannah Muse, accompanied with the lovely sound healing from Michael Downey and Terre Le, warmed us up and opened our hearts with a playful and profound yoga class.

After we stretched, breathed, laughed, and connected we tread further along the path to stillness and opening with the help from Mel and Joseph from Mind Body Awareness Project. We saw a glimpse into their experiences teaching meditation to youth in juvenile halls and were led into a deep and serene glimpse into our own experience through a guided meditation led by Joseph.

At this point we were primed to hear the experiences of our esteemed and passionate panel of speakers: Ayla Benjamin, Patterson Emisebe, Nicole Steward, and Martine Watkins. All of whom burn brightly for yoga equity and restorative justice.

Yoga For All Movement knows that it takes a village to create transformational change. This would not be possible without the generous gifts of our community and knowing that we have support in our mission to bring yoga to ALL in Santa Cruz County, the Central Coast, and beyond.

Summer Series at Hotel Paradox - 2017
